Post 2014 NFL Draft for the Miami Dolphins
Post Draft Analysis
The Miami Dolphins and Dennis Hickey come out of this draft feeling good, because ultimately the organization had a vision and a plan which they stood by for all three days of the draft. There was no sexy pick as the, so called football experts say, but there was plenty of young men that fit what new general manager Dennis Hickey was looking for. This new class of rookies brings certain skill sets that fit the scheme and definitely fills the team needs, to all Miami Dolphin fans do not just look at the name, but take the time to look into some of these young men and you will see that Dennis Hickey is no fool.
Players College Round/Pick
Ju'Wuan James (RT) Tennessee 1 / #19
Jarvis Landry (WR) LSU 2 / #63
Billy Turner (T/G) North Dakota State 3 / #67
Walt Aikens (CB) Liberty 4 / #125
Arthur Lynch (TE) Georgia 5 / #155
Jordan Tripp (LB) Montana 5 / #171
Matt Hazel (WR) Coastal Carolina 6 / #190
Terrence Fede (DE) Marist 7 / #234
The Miami Dolphins went into this draft with several needs like right tackle, right guard, cornerback, linebacker, wide receiver, tight end and depth at safety. As you can see from the 2014 draft class above, six out of the seven needs I listed were filled with good quality men who had good successful collegiate careers. I have a few names that i urge you to keep an eye on once training camp opens and I will not mention Ju'wuan James because he should be the obvious choice barring no set backs at right tackle.
Jarvis Jandry (WR), Billy Turner (T/G), Walt Aikens (CB), Jordan Tripp (LB) and Arthur Lynch (TE), all have the opportunity to make an immediate impact whether it's on special teams or a recurring role within the starting rotations. If I had to give Dennis Hickey and the Miami Dolphins a grade it would be a B-, I just feel maybe instead of the wide receiver Matt Hazel pick they could of looked at safety depth considering Louis Delmas gets injured often, but overall I really like how Dennis Hickey maneuvered in the draft and how the organization collectively made decisions on each player. The Miami Dolphins have had a solid off-season including the free agent signings and I look forward to seeing this draft class get on the field.

Winners of the Free Agency Frenzy
The NFL free agency period kicked off Tuesday March 11th, 2014 at 4 pm, and there were plenty of teams ready to open up their wallets. I am listing in my opinion who i think were the winners of the first two days and there was plenty of players getting ready to move on from their current team.
The Miami Dolphins were aggressive and attacked players of need while also resigning a couple of their own;
Left Tackle / Branden Albert from (Kansas City Chiefs)
Nose Tackle / Earl Mitchell from (Houston Texans)
Safety / Louis Delmas from (Detroit Lions)
Corner Back / Brent Grimes was (Resigned)
Defensive Tackle / Randy Starks was (Resigned)
The Atlanta Falcons were very aggressive attacking the weak part of their team the defense;
Defensive Tackle / Paul Soliai from (Miami Dolphins)
Defensive End / Tyson Jackson from (Kansas City Chiefs)
Guard / Jon Asamoah from (Kansas City Chiefs)
Defensive Tackle / Corey Peters was (Resigned)
Defensive Tackle / Jonathan Babineaux was (Resigned)
LT/RT / Gabe Carimi from (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
The Denver Broncos are putting in all their chips to fix that defense and send Peyton Manning back to another Super Bowl. You have to hand it to John Elway's negotiating skills signing three very good players;
Defensive End / Demarcus Ware from (Dallas Cowboys)
Corner Back / Aqib Talib from (New England Patriots)
Safety / T.J. Ward from (Cleveland Browns)
Jason Licht and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are adding some talented players to the roster accomplishing to bring in;
Defensive End / Michael Johnson from (Cincinnati Bengals)
Corner Back / Alterraun Verner from ( Tennessee Titans)
Quarter Back / Josh McCown from (Chicago Bears) to bring some competition for Mike Glennon.
Tight End / Brandon Myers from (N.Y. Giants)
The Indianapolis Colts have made some moves to improve a defense that quite frankly let them down over and over, especially in the playoffs.
Linebacker / D'Qwell Jackson from (Cleveland Browns)
Defensive End / Arthur Jones from (Baltimore Ravens)
Corner back / Vontae Davis was (Resigned)
Running Back / Ahmad Bradshaw was (Resigned)
Kicker / Adam Vinatieri was (Resigned)
The Browns made a Splash in Day one and were quiet in day two for the most part, but important news broke that Quarterback Brandon Weeden was released, which in turn will save them some money and add additional cap space, players signed were;
Safety / Donte Whitner from (San Francisco 49ers)
Linebacker / Karlos Dansby from (Arizona Cardinals)
Free agency is by no means over, there are plenty of players out there still waiting to receive that call and offer, but at least for the first two days these are my winners of the frenzy that is free agency.
